Getting Started
What is the difference between the LITE and the PRO version?

With the LITE version, you have limited access to TraceMyTrack features. For example, you can only record 5 Tracks and only within 1250 available track points, you can not display info bubbles or can't auto assign new photos to your track. With the PRO version, you can record as many tracks as you like and there is no limit to the number of points. Only by upgrading to PRO, you can export your track as CSV, GPX, KML (with or without images).

When can I best use the app?

Use TraceMyTrack to your convenience when you take a walk or when you do jogging, on a biking trip, when you go for a hike or when you drive. You can easily adjust your battery options and your recording profile according to the time you will spend without battery charger. That way, you can avoid the low battery issue.

How can I save battery power with TraceMyTrack?

All you have to do is choose one of the battery profiles that is most convenient to you. Tap on the Recording Profiles menu button to reveal the five battery profile options indexed from 1 to 5 from highest accuracy to lowest accuracy recording and choose the profile that best suits the type of activity you are undertaking.

How do I manually copy and send the database from iTunes to TraceMyTrack Support?

Before we start you will need the following:
- the device where TraceMyTrack is installed
- internet connection
- a computer with iTunes installed
- a data transfer cable (charging cable)
1. Connect the device to iTunes -> select the device, then:
1.a. Select the “Apps” tab
1.b. Scroll down by dragging the rightmost scroll bar, until you reach “File Sharing” title
1.c. in “Apps" list select “TraceMyTrack” and from the right side, copy the folder “logs” and the file “MyTrack2.sqlite” to the computer. If you have both TraceMyTrack Pro and TraceMyTrack Lite installed on the device, then in the app list you will have two identical “TraceMyTrack” apps, and since you can’t know for sure which is the Lite version just copy the Logs and MyTrack2.sqlite from both of them on the computer.
2. Now you need to send us the files you copied to the computer (“MyTrack2.sqlite” file and the “logs” folder), via e-mail (you will probably need to compress the logs folder, before attaching it to the mail).

Can I use the app without internet connection?

TraceMyTrack can be used without internet connection, but you need to download the map from the area where you want to create the track in the Main Menu - Manage offline maps, and in the Main Menu you must enable the Use offline maps option. You will only be able to have access to the Help section when you are connected to a WiFi or to your Mobile Data.

Where are all my tracks stored?

You can find all your tracks in the track list menu. To open the track list, just tap on the top right corner button.

What is the TraceMyTrack export/import format?

Besides .gpx, .kml, .kmz, .csv export and import formats, one new format is available: TraceMyTrack. It was specifically created for users of TraceMyTrack to be able to export tracks and import them onto another iOS device. Tracks can therefore be shared with anybody who has an iOS device and TraceMyTrack PRO installed on it.

How do I export a track?

Exporting and importing a track is only possible if you have upgraded to TraceMyTrack PRO . Go to Main Menu and select the option Export track. Choose from the pop-over window the format option TraceMyTrack. A mailing window will appear and you can add the email address in the first field. The track is attached to the email and you can send it to your friends.

Where can I see all my imported tracks?

o view all your imported tracks you will need to open your "track list" from the top right corner of the main screen. Then tap on the "imported tracks" tab.

How do I import a track?

When someone sends you an exported track, you can import it to your device by tapping on the attachment icon and by choosing the TraceMyTrack app icon from the app selection window. TraceMyTrack app will open and a dialogue window will ask you if you want to import the track and will also give you the name of the track that you are about to import. You can choose to import it or to cancel the action. Once the track has been imported, you can find it in your Track list, under "Imported Tracks".

How to extend or shrink a track?

You can change the start or end time of a track by moving the first or last point in track. After moving the point to a new location on the map, a panel will appear from where you can offset the location time. You can offset the location time by either adding or subtracting time, by tapping on the "-" or "+" symbol.

Track speed coloring - What do the colors mean?

Track line

What do the colors mean?
TraceMyTrack is programmed to color your tracks/subtracks depending on your speed. As such, when the speed is 0 or up to 30km/h, the color will be dark red. When the speed is approximately 30km-60km/h, the track/subtrack will go into a lighter red hue. Between 60km-90km/h, the track/subtrack will get magenta hues. As the speed grows, the track will become purple - for the interval 90km - 120km/h - and above this speed, it will get darker hues of blue. Starting with 150km/h and up, the track/subtrack will color into an increasingly lighter blue.

Guide section

If you add guide sections to your track, they will be drawn underneath the track line with a greenish color.

Video section

If you assign a video to a track, TraceMyTrack will highlight the section of the track where the video was taken by drawing a "film strip" underneath the track line.

Where can I see my track statistics?

The main screen of the app will display by default the first two statistics panel for each track. If you wish to see more statistics, toggle down more statistics panels by tapping on the lower panel on the screen.

How can I use a track as a guide?

To apply a track as a guide onto your currently opened track, open track and then longpress on the desired track and select "Use as guide".

How to remove guides from currently opened track?

If a track has guides applied to it, you can remove them by going to main and selecting "Remove guide sections". If the track doesn't have any guides applied to it this option will not show up in main menu.

How do I share my track on social media?

Go to the Main Menu and tap the Share track as story card option. Follow the steps in the Share story section and add the address, statistics and card format you wish to share. Choose the way you wish to share your card by tapping the Share Story Card button.

How to switch between "favorite point insert menu" modes?

To switch from the circular "favorite point insert menu" to the fast action bar, go to Main Menu --> Settings and switch "Hide fast action bar" to OFF.

Point actions
What is the edit point preview/full-view?

Once you select a point on the map, the edit point details will automatically open up in the preview state. The preview state will always prioritise photos and statistics for a point, but if the former are missing, tags, description and address details will be prioritised. You can swipe open the preview details into full-view state and enjoy all the point information details existent on that point (photos, videos, voice memos, tags, description, address, statistics), and you can also choose to delete a point or just the point information, by tapping the Delete Point action button.

Where can I see my normal point statistics?

In order to see the stationary point statistics (Arrival time, Departure time, Time from start, Distance from start, Altitude and Height change since start), you need to select a stationary point first. On the bottom of the screen, the three statistics panels will show up in darker blue.

What is a favorite point?

A favorite point is any point on the track that was either favorited while the track was active, or was marked favorite after the track recording finished. Any point on the track can become favorite after an image, video, voice memo, tag, description or an address was added to it and can be un-favorited if all point details are erased. A favorite point will be star-shaped and will take the colors and the attributes of the point it previously was.

How can I see my Favorite Point statistics?

A point becomes a Favorite Point when you add photos, addresses or descriptions to them. The start and stop point are also considered Favorite Points as default. In order to see Favorite point statistics, select a favorite point and two statistics panels (Time, Speed, Time from start and Distance from start) will show up.

What are the normal and stationary point statistics?

A normal point will always display statistics such as Time and date, Speed, Time from start, Distance from start, Altitude, Height change from start, Subtrack name and Position Coordinates. You can access these statistics by selecting the targeted normal point on the map.
A stationary point will always display statistic data such as: Arrival time, Departure time, Time from start, Distance from start, Altitude, Height change from start, Subtrack name, Position coordinates. You can access these statistics also by selecting the targeted stationary point on the map.

How do I add a favorite point to my currently recording track?

When you are recording a track and you suddenly find a great spot that you want to immediately mark as favorite, reach for the Add Favorite menu at the lower left corner of the map, marked with an icon of a star and a plus. By tapping on this icon, a menu will pop-up and will allow you to mark the point as favorite - all you need to do is tap on the icon with the star at the top of the pop-up menu. This action will not only add a new point to your track, but it will also mark it as favorite.

How can I edit my points (add or remove photos, notes or addresses)?

You can edit points on the map by selecting them first and then by interacting with all the available Favorite Point icons (Add Photo/Video, Add Tags, Add Description, Add Voice memo or Add Address).

How do I add a photo or a video to a point?

Photo
In order to add a photo to a point, tap on the point on the map that you need to attach the photo to and choose the Add Photo icon from the row of point information icons. A pop-up menu will allow you to either Take a photo or Add photos from library. As soon as you have taken a photo or added one or more from the library, it/they will show up in the photo field in the point details.

Video

Adding a video is similar to adding a photo, the only real difference is how the video is associated with the track points after the video is added. Since videos are not instant, TraceMyTrack will try to associate your video with multiple locations depending on the video duration, but it will always follow some simple rules:

- if you capture a new video or add a video which was recorded at the same time as the selected point, the video will be associated with the selected point and all next points which were captured during the duration of the video. TraceMyTrack will highlight this track line section for you, and also mark the video beginning and end point with a special icon.

- if you add a video which was not recorded at the same time as the selcted point, the video will only be associated with the selected point.

How do I delete a photo or a video from a point?

If you wish to delete a photo or a video from a point, you need to first select the targeted point on the map/track. The point details will appear in the lower half or the screen. Long press on the photo/video you wish to delete. An x button will show up in the lower right corner of the photo/video. Tap on the x button and the photo/video will be deleted.

The only difference between deleting a video and deleting a photo is that when you delete a video, the video will also be deleted from the rest of the points in the current track which may contain this video.

How do I add tags to a point?

If you want to add tags to a point, first you need to select the targeted point. Choose the Add Tags icon from the row of point information icons. A pop-up list of tags will show up and you may choose, one by one, the tags that you are interested in. If you wish to add a new tag, tap on the + button at the top right corner of the pop-up window and type in the new tag within the pop-up New Tag window.

How do I delete tags from a point?

If you wish to delete tags from a point, whether you are in the preview or the full-view edit point mode, hold a long tap on the tag field and an x button will show up in the top right corner of each tag. Delete the targeted tags and exit the edit state by tapping on the tick icon on the left side of the field.

Where can I find an overview of all my tags?

In the Main Menu, you have the option Edit Tags, which opens a list of all your used tags on all your tracks. You can add new tags or delete existing tags by either tapping on the + icon in the left lower corner or the Edit button in the lower right corner, respectively.

How do I add description to a point?

If you want to add description to a point, first you need to select the targeted point. If you are in the preview mode, by tapping on the Add description icon in the edit point icons at the top of the edit point details, you trigger a pop-up window that allows you to type in the desired description. Tap Ok and the description will appear in the description field of the edit point details. In the full-view mode, you can add a description by typing it directly in the Add description field.

How do I delete the description from a point?

If you wish to delete description from a point, whether you are in the preview or the full-view edit point mode, hold a long tap on the description field and an x button will show up in the lower right corner of the field. By tapping on the x button, the description will be completely erased.

How do I add an address to a point?

If you want to add an address to a point on the map, first you need to select the targeted point. Choose the Add Address icon from the row of point information icons. A full-view list of addresses will show up and you may choose the address you need to add. If you can't find the address in the list of displayed addresses, tap on 'Get address for this location' at the top of the address list. The address will be displayed in the address field, within the edit point details.

How do I delete an address from a point?

If you wish to delete address from a point, whether you are in the preview or the full-view edit point mode, long press on the address field and an x button will show up in the lower right corner of the field. By tapping on the x button, the address will be completely erased.

How do I record a voice memo?

You can open voice memo recorder in two ways:

1. Select "voice memo" from the circular (or fast action bar) favorite point insertion menu.

2. Select a point then tap on the "voice memo" button.

Once the voice memo recorder is opened, you can start a new recording by pressing the button. To stop the recording press the stop recording.

To delete a recording swipe left over it and select "delete".

How do I play a voice memo?

If a point contains voice memo recordings they will be displayed above the point statistics.
To play a voice memo select a point which contains voice memos and just tap on the play button.

How do I delete a voice memo?

To delete a voice memo, select a point which contains voice memos and long press on a voice memo, then select "delete".

How do I reposition a point on the map?

You can move any track point by long pressing on it and dragging it to a new location. During the drag two orange line will show a preview on how the track line will show. Releasing the finger will move the point to that location.

After moving the point you have 4 seconds in which you can cancel the action by pressing the "Undo" button. If you later want to undo the point reposition you can do so by going to "Undo track changes" in Main Menu.

Editing a track
How do I delete a point?

In order to delete a point, select it first and tap on the scissors iconon the navigation wheel. A multiple choice dialogue will give you the option to delete the point.

I've deleted a point by mistake, can I undo it?

Every manual change (point deletion, insertion or move) made to a track can be easily undone by going to Main Menu --> Track changes (this menu option is only visible if the track has at least one manually change made).

Here you have a dropdown list with all the changes made to this track. You can undo a specific change, by pressing the disclosure dropdown icon at the right of specific rows until you find the change you want to undo then select the red arrow undo button at the left of it's row. You can also undo a group of changes or all the changes by pressing the red arrow button at the proper level.

The changes are grouped in different levels to easily brows through them.

1. At the top level you have all the changes in this track. Pressing the undo red arrow button will undo all the changes in this track.

2. At the second level you have all the changes in this track grouped in time intervals. Pressing the undo red arrow button at this level will undo all the changes that were made in this time interval.

3. At the third level you have all the changes in the selected time interval grouped by change type (point delete, point move, point insertion, subtrack deletion etc). Pressing the undo red arrow button will undo all the same type changes that were made in this time interval.

4. Ath the fourth level you have the individual changes. Pressing the undo red arrow button will undo all that specific change.

How to manually insert a point in track?

You can easily insert a point in a track at any time by long pressing on an empty space on the map. A cursor will appear above your finger which can be dragged to the desired position. The new point will always be placed between the two nearest points to the cursor, and two orange lines will show a preview on how the track will look after the point insertion. When you release your finger the point will be added at that position.

After inserting the point you have 4 seconds in which you can cancel the action by pressing the "Undo" button. If you later want to undo the point insertion you can do so by going to "Undo track changes" in Main Menu.

Can I group the points from an area to a single location?

To group all the points from an area into a single point first select the point which you want to be the center, select the scissors from the navigation wheel and select "Group nearby points". Then select the area by dragging the yellow circle and press "ok".

Can I add points to my track from photo GPS data?

You can either add points to a track or create an entirely new track using photos which have gps data. To do this go to Main Menu -> Add photos -> Insert track points from gps data or Main Menu -> Add photos -> Create new track from gps data. Then select the photos you want and let TraceMyTrack do the rest.

Point appearance
What are the info bubbles and how do I activate them?

The info bubbles are designed to populate your track with more information about your points (photos, descriptions, tags) and to give you a general view of the point details attached to them. They can be activated from the Main Menu, under Track Options, by switching on the Show info bubbles option.

What is the number in the top right corner of the info bubbles and how does it work?

The number at the top right corner of the bubble is called counter and specifies the number of details a point has attached to it. For example, if a point has two photos and four tags attached to it, and if the option Photo preview on map is switched on, the counter will show number +2. The counter will always start "counting" as soon as the point has more than one photo and more than three tags. It will also count the address, if the point has address attached to it. If the option Photo preview on map is switched off, the counter will take into consideration every photo attached to the point and will add to the number. In the example above, the counter will show +3 this time, because it will also take into consideration the photo that is not shown in the preview.

How do I deactivate the info bubbles?

In order to stop seeing the info bubbles on your map, you need to go to Main Menu and switch off the Show info bubbles option.

How do I activate the photo preview on the map for my tracks?

If you want to have a photo preview on the points of your tracks, you need to go to Main Menu, under Display options and switch on the Show info bubbles. By doing so, you also activate the Preview photos on map option, which also needs to be switched on.

How do I deactivate the photo preview on the map for my tracks?

If you want to deactivate the photo preview on the map, you need to go to the Main Menu and, under Display options, switch off the option: Preview photos on map.

Advanced features
Why do my photos automatically attach to certain points on the track?

TraceMyTrack will automatically attach any photos you take to nearest points in track if "Auto assign new photos" is enabled in Main Menu -> Display options.

You can manually attach photos to points by selecting a point and tapping on the Add Photo icon available on the Main Screen. Or you can add photos by choosing "Add photos..." in Main Menu -> Display options.

How does TraceMyTrack auto assign photos to my tracks?

Whenever you are on a trip you can leave TraceMyTrack in the background to do its job and record your journey, so that you can focus on taking photos and enjoying the scenery without concerning yourself to manually adding the photos to your track. When you bring TraceMyTrack to foreground, the app will automatically assign the photos you took while it was in background, to the correct locations where they were captured. To activate this feature go to Main Menu -> Display options -> “Auto assign new photos”.

Can TraceMyTrack download and use offline maps?

Yes. You can download map regions by going to Main Menu --> Manage offline maps. Then select the region you want to download by moving the map around, then press the button and select "Current visible region". TraceMyTrack will download the currently visible region at current zoom level and an extra 3 zoom in levels. You can download as many regions as you want.

To switch to your downloaded offline maps go to Main Menu and switch ON "Use offline maps".

While "Use offline maps" is on, TraceMyTrack will no longer use internet data to download the maps you are looking at, but instead will use your local downloaded regions. But keep in mind that if no local downloaded regions are found, TraceMyTrack will not show any map tiles as long as "Use offline maps" is on even if you do ave an internet connection.

Why does recording stop when battery is low?

TraceMyTrack stops recording your tracks the moment it detects a low-power battery. You can choose the battery level under which TraceMyTrack should stop recording in the Settings menu.

Why does a new subtrack start when I stay longer in a place?

One of the TraceMyTrack features is the option to start a new subtrack if a person stays longer than a certain amount of time in a place. You can turn this feature off or adjust the amount of time in your app settings, under Setting/ Recording Options.

Can I increase the radius of the stationary points?

To change the radius of a stationary point go to Main Menu -> Setting -> Stationary point radius.
